Romanian ambassador in Belarus recalled for consultations in solidarity with Lithuania and Poland

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, announed on Friday, October 9, that the Romanian ambassador to Belarus, Viorel Mosanu, was recalled for consultations.

"We decided to recall our ambassador in Belarus for consulations in solidarity with Lithuania and Poland. Belarus needs to understand that using diplomatic pressure on EU Member States will not help dialogue and will not bring positive results".

The two countries were accused by Lukashenko regime of interference in Belarus' internal affairs. Lukashenko recalled last Friday his ambassadors from Warsaw and Vilnius and requested the two countries to reduce the staff of their missions in Minsk.

Consequently, Poland and Lithuania recalled their ambassadors, followed by Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Germany and Bulgaria.
